Baby Sensory Northern Gold Coast

Baby Sensory Northern Gold Coast

Babies learn more in the first year of life than at any other time. Never again will there be such an extraordinary pace of development. They are totally attentive and absolutely fascinated by everything that they can see, hear, touch, taste and smell. In fact, the most miraculous advances in a baby’s brain structure occur in the first 3 months of life. During this period, an astonishing 2 million new connections are created every second!  By the end of the first year, a baby’s brain will have doubled in volume as a direct result of learning from birth.

“A sensory environment rich in sights, sounds, smells, tastes and textures promotes brain growth, increases the capacity for intellectual development, and forms the foundation for all future learning.” Dr. Lin Day (PhD. M. Phil. PGCE. BSc. Dip. Ed. SRN) – founder of Baby Sensory.

At Baby Sensory your baby will be introduced to a world of sensory exploration. Specifically designed to aid your baby’s development from birth to 13 months, the programme is packed with an incredible variety of sounds, smells, sights, textures, music, dance, signing and massage as well as fibre optic light shows, amazing light balls, bubbles, parachutes and so much more! Each activity is supported by the provision of developmental information, so that parents can discover how to lead their baby’s learning forwards, both within the class and at home.

What makes Baby Sensory so unique? There are over 40 themed lesson plans which means you’ll never experience the same

lesson twice and every element of the programme has been meticulously designed with your baby’s development in mind. While each session is different, the class is structured to follow the natural rest-play-rest cycle of babies to provide predictability, comfort and security. The routine avoids over or under-stimulation and is useful because you know what to expect each week. However, if your baby needs to feed half-way through or sleep, that’s fine too!

Each week you’ll have the opportunity to chat with other carers in a relaxed manner. Which is brilliant for forging friendships as the weeks go on, sharing tips and experiences at a time when you’ll probably really appreciate the support. You can join Baby Sensory at any point in the term, all you really need to do is come along. Baby Sensory has done all the research so that you and your baby can spend time focusing on each other and having huge amounts of fun!

Baby Sensory are proud and honoured to have been named as the ‘BEST NATIONAL BABY AND TODDLER ACTIVITY 0-2 YRS’ at the What’s On for Junior Australia Awards for the last 2 years.

Fun places to take toddlers on the Gold Coast

Fun places to take toddlers on the Gold Coast

The Gold Coast is a kids heaven with fun parks, beaches and over 300 days of sunshine per year.  Grab a hat, bucket and spade, and a change of clothes: there’s plenty for little ones to explore. Here are five of our favourite fun places to take toddlers.

Tallebudgera Creek

It’s one of the only beaches on the coast that has shade, with trees on both sides of the creek. Park near Jellurgal and walk around the headland pathway to a quiet natural paradise, or park on the southern side and be close to cafes, beach showers, toilets and a children’s playground.

There are no waves at this beach, but at times the sand bank can drop away and the current is strong. Stay between the flags.

The Rockpools at Broadwater Parklands

Lots of shade, no sand and plenty of shallow water to splash in makes this an easy few hours, as long as you don’t mind the kids getting a bit wet! There is a lifeguard on duty and good coffee isn’t far away.

Read more about the Parklands…

Baby Rhyme Time at Gold Coast City Libraries

Learn fun songs that will help your toddler to learn body parts, numbers and familiar tunes such as Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Very handy for you to re-learn songs from your childhood that you can sing at home, and a nice environment to meet other parents. Find their programs here.

Visit a Gold Coast playgroup!

Every day of the week, all over the Gold Coast mummies are getting together to enjoy each other’s company. Find the right playgroup and your toddler can enjoy a playground, toys, singing  and dancing, and craft.

Our fave is Play at NCC

You can find our list of playgroups for every day of the week here.

All Abilities Playground Pratten Park Broadbeach

This fabulous fenced playground has lots of open space for running and scootering, a sandpit (BYO toys) and water-play area, slings, slides and lots of shade. Bring a picnic blanket and set-up on the grass for an hour or two in the sunshine.

Other fun places to take toddlers on the Gold Coast include:

  • Dreamworld (Wiggle World – ‘nuf said)
  • Seaworld
  • Movieworld
  • A petting zoo
  • Indoor playgrounds such as Yard Apes at Coomera

The Farm @ Byron Bay

Not just a hip place to have coffee or buy flowers, The Farm (which is a working farm) has a range of animals. Best check their workshops and programs to ensure upclose experiences. We’ve been previously and the closest animals were in a far paddock- BUT- the coffee was awesome.

Macadamia Castle

Check out their animal fun park and treetop playground for a fun day out with the kids.

Petting Zoo Safety

They say:
Hand washing is the key. Infectious diseases may be spread from either animals or the environment to people by contaminated hands. Hand washing is one of the most important practices in preventing the spread of disease for visitors to petting zoos. Always wash hands with soap and running water before eating, drinking or smoking.

While visiting animals, do not:
  • touch mouth with hands, or lick fingers
  • eat food intended for animals
  • eat
  • leave open wounds uncovered
  • wipe hands on clothing, if avoidable.
Always wash hands and other exposed body parts with soap and running water, particularly after:
  • touching animals, their enclosures or food containers. Any part of the animal or its surrounds can be contaminated with faeces or urine
  • being licked, bitten or spat on by animals
  • having contact with soil or faeces.
